SearchOhio - Availability of items from Ohio Public Libraries for loan

Beginning today, you can borrow materials from
19 Ohio Public Libraries in addition to in-state colleges and universities.

This is part of a continuing project with OhioLINK to make the state’s
library collections accessible to all Ohio residents including our
students and faculty.

To use this service:
1.      Search our local POLAR catalog to see if an item is available on campus.
2.      If not, click on the “Search OhioLINK” button to see if it is
available from a College or university.
3.      If it is not available, click on the “SearchOhio” button at the top
of the screen.
4.      Follow the procedures shown – enter your home institution, name, ID
number and pick-up location.
Please note the public library loan policies.

•  Loan period is 21 days for printed items, audiobooks and music
    and 7 days for DVDs. All items may be eligible for up to 3 renewals.
•  Overdue fine is 50 cents per day with a maximum overdue fine of $25.00.
•  An additional replacement fee of $25.00 will be billed for any item
    not returned within 30 days of the due date

Heterick2Go

Heterick2Go - the mobile app. from Heterick Memorial Library has been available for the last few months. Users of mobile devices - Android, Apple or Blackberry etc. can access the library via their smart phone or tablet computers. New Language Databases

Over the summer, two language study databases have been added.

Tell Me More
This language database offers instruction in reading, writing,
speaking and comprehension. It covers the following languages:
•       English (ESL/ESOL)
•       Spanish
•       French
•       German
•       Italian
•       Dutch
•       Arabic
•       Chinese
•       Japanese


Mango
Mango Language Learning Center Mango is an online language-learning
system that can help you learn languages like Spanish, French,
Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese, German, Mandarin Chinese, Greek,
Italian, Russian and more. It also offers English language lessons if
English is not your first language. The system is divided into modules
that have clear goals related to conversation and pronunciation. It
uses a variety of teaching methods including flashcards, repetition,
and cultural notes. It also contains a translation feature.

New Database - Scopus

For a three year trial period, members of the ONU community will have access to SCOPUS, a major electronic tool containing both peer-reviewed research literature and quality web sources. Users may wish to compare it to the three ISI databases, also available on the Heterick web pages, Humanities Citation Index, Science Citation Index and Social Sciences Index.
With over 18,000 titles from more than 5,000 international publishers, Scopus offers a quick, easy and comprehensive resource to support research needs in the scientific, technical, medical and social sciences fields and, more recently, also in the arts and humanities.

Scopus currently covers:

- 17,000 peer-reviewed journals (including 1,200 Open Access journals).
- 600 trade publications.
 - 350 book series.
 - 3.7 million conference papers from proceedings and journals.
 - 42.5 million records:
 - 22 million records with references back to 1996 (of which 78% include references).
 - 20.5 million records pre-1996 which go back as far as 1823.

Features and functionality designed to support and improve researchers’ workflow, include:
• A simple and intuitive interface.
• Linking to full-text articles and other library resources.
• Author Identifier to automatically match an author’s published research including the h-index.
• Citation Tracker to simply find, check and track citations in real-time.
• Affiliation Identifier to automatically identify and match an organization with all its research output.
• Journal Analyzer provides a quick insight into journal performance.
• Alerts, RSS and HTML feeds to stay up-to-date.
• Document Download Manager to easily download and organize multiple full-text articles simultaneously.
• Data export via bibiliographic managers such as RefWorks, EndNote and BibTeX.
